Gender Equality and Family-Friendly Policies

The Research Unit 5476 Urothelial Carcinoma Epigenetics – UcarE offers various gender equality and family friendly measures. The FOR 5476 office assists young parents with questions concerning childcare and other topics of the compatibility of career and family, and furthermore offers different seminars and courses to teach skills required for leadership positions.
Female members of the FOR 5476 who are interested in additional workshops and events like for Leadership, Teaching Skills or Personal Coaching  are welcome to contact the coordinator team.

Additionally there will be a close cooperation with the existing programs to support women in science offered from the University of Freiburg and the Faculty of Medicine. Female members of the FOR 5476 will be encouraged to apply to the following programs:

EIRA-Mentoring

At the postdoctoral level, female scientist can apply for the EIRA-Mentoring Program of the Faculty of Medicine. The EIRA fellows benefit from a personal mentoring program for one and a half year including soft skill courses and regular peer group meetings to build a network within the scientific community and acquire soft skills required for leadership positions.

Kite –Mentoring

At the PhD and postdoctoral level female scientist can apply for the Kite-Mentoring Program of the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg. The program is based on three pillars: mentoring, training and networking. The Kite fellows benefit from a personal mentoring. In addition, a variety of soft skill courses is available for all female biology and medicine PhD students of the University of Freiburg.

CORA – Coaching Women for Research and Academia

At the postdoctoral level, female scientists of the University of Freiburg can apply for the Cora coaching. The goal of Cora coaching is to helps female scientists plan their further career path within science. Fellows benefit from a personal mentoring helping the scientist to pursue the next steps toward leadership positions. Regular peer group meetings help to build a network within the scientific community.
